One Time Program

1000 Books Before Kindergarten Kickoff

Saturday, April 1, 10:00am – 2:00pm
Activity Room

The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless! Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books before your child starts kindergarten! If you read one book a night: you will have read about 365 books in one year; 730 books in two years; and 1,095 books in three years. A keepsake journal will be provided by Altrusa FREE to the first 50 families to sign up for the purpose of tracking the books read.

Reading Buddies: Pages to Screen-The Lorax

Members of the Teen Advisory Council want to have some fun and make Slime with you. Have fun and be messy by making slime and take some home!

March - The Teen Advisory Council will help you make mini robots out of tooth brushes. Create obstacle courses, race tracks, and compete with your robot!

April- Whether or not you like sushi, you will like Candy Sushi made with rice cereal, fruit rolls, gummi worms, and Swedish Fish. Members of the Teen Advisory Council will be here to help you make some delicious creations.

Due very small parts we ask that children be
5 – 12 years old!

Children ages 5 - 12 are invited to join the Builders’ Club 4-5:30pm on Fridays (see dates above), in the Activity Room.  Join us for afternoons of building with the bricks we all know and love.  Come build with your favorite interlocking blocks!  Each week we will have a challenge, and if you’re lucky, your creation will be chosen to be displayed in our glass case.  Due to the small pieces utilized, we ask that only those children 5 – 12 years of age be actively involved in the program and that they stay and help put pieces away.  Perhaps your “littles” would enjoy our newly reopened Parenting Room.
