Jack Paton lived and worked in Middletown for many years as a writer, editor, reporter, teacher, and university administrator. His work reflected his fascination with people and the intricacies of their lives. Jack was widely known for his participation in state and local activities, and he was pleased to have a memoir published in The New Yorker. Jack knew from experience that “everyone has a story to tell,” and he loved to encourage others to put these memories into words.
In honor of Jack Paton, his family and the Russell Library present an annual writing contest for people who have lived or worked in Middletown. You must be over 25 years of age to enter.
