The Memory Box
What is The Memory Box?
The Memory Box (aka the Digitization Station) is a place where you can bring the past to life. It’s a service that allows you to bring in home videos, photographs, and documents to transform into digital files that you can edit and share.
How do I learn about it?
Training sessions are required before you can use these devices on your own time. In these training sessions, it is recommended for participants to bring something that they want digitized.
What type of equipment is available?
The Memory Box has two state of the art computers, one for scanning and the other for digitizing home videos.
Who may use the scanner?
The sessions are set up by reservation for 2.5 hours. The station is open to the general public, it is not just for Middletown residents.

What you need to bring:
Your own home videos (VHS, VHS-C) in good condition – no mold and no deterioration.
USB Drive, if that is the form you wish to save to. You may also save to your Google Drive or Dropbox account.
Super 8 & 8mm Movies

Wolverine 8mm and Super 8 Reels
What you need to bring:
Your own home videos (8mm, Super 8) in good condition – no mold and no deterioration.
SD cards or USB Drive for (8mm or Super 8) if that is the form you want it saved to. SD cards cannot be more than 32 gb. You may also save to your Google Drive or Dropbox account.
Photos & Documents

Flatbed Scanner – Epson Perfection V600 Color Photo, Image, Film, Negative and Document Scanner
What you need to bring:
Photos
Documents
USB Drive, if that is the form you wish to save to. You may also save to your Google Drive or Dropbox account.
For security and privacy, all computer storage is erased after a user logs off their session. Anything saved or work done on the computer can not be recovered. It is required for participants to bring their own USB drives and SD cards to save their digitized files.
Guidelines
The VHS conversions are in real time and the Super 8/8mm are frame by frame. They both will take longer than expected.
Food and drinks are not permitted at the stations.
Staff will not convert media or finalize projects in the absence of the content owner. Visitors must be present at all times while projects are digitizing and/or rendering.
The conditions of the film need to be sufficient and clear for digitizing. We cannot restore damaged film, we are not conservationists.
